Transformation into who you are

In the Screwtape Letter by C.S. Lewis.  Screwtape is writing to his nephew Wormwood.  Wormwood is not a very skilled tempter.  Screwtape became more and more frustrated, and at one time during writing he cut off because in his emotional state he transformed into a centipede.

As we see, Screwtape's outer physical changed to reflect his inner self.  How does this apply to us as human being?  We won't change into a centipede just by being angry (of course there are some little brothers out there that want to just to freak their sisters out).  However, we do transform in a different way but not readily apparent from physical appearance with some exceptions.

Choices that we make, paths in our life, friends we socialize with, and other factors shape us into unique individuals.  Screwtape and the other tempters are trying their best to tempt people to become fallen.  While the "Enemy", God, wants to mold us into the best possible person that we can become.  Our choices will determine who we become.  There are people who literally changed into monsters, not in physical sense, in our inner personalities.  They exhibited it through their very actions.  Murderers, adulterers, liars, covetous, and all the vices.  They degrade our inner being until we became corrupted.

On the other hand, God gave us commandments, prophets, apostles, and all the disciplines to help people become more like Him.  To help them become the best people.  We become Gods like Him when we do all that we can do to work toward the goal.  Our inner being began to reflect him.  As it said in the scriptures, we began to reflect Him.  It's like a silversmith refining silver ores.

We have two choices.  We can become Gods or we can become monsters.  The choice is as clear as black and white.
